some of these shoudnt be happening in 2024

SOME OF THESE SHOULDNT BE HAPPENING IN 2024

cdc.gov measles outbreak

this is the measles virus
its the most contagious respiratory virus there is
here is how many cases we should be seeing in the united states each year
zero nada none 0
however we are seeing outbreaks in several places across the us
the most notorious is in florida
why
lax immunization requirements in certain states
antivaxxers
misinformed state officials ie florida
unimmunized travelers

in my career i never saw an acute case of measles
why
folks knew how bad measles could be so they immunized their kids
they or their parents had measles and saw how sick one could get

i did see a case when i was in elementary school
me
i remember having it and bein locked in a dark room for two weeks with a rash and high fevers
that was before immunizations for measles were available

the risks to those who get the measles
death
pneumonia
encephalitis with permanent disabilities
damaged fetuses with permanent disabilities when born
blindness
those are the bad ones

measles can be prevented by being immunized with the mmr ie measles mumps rubella

syphilis
it is a sexually transmitted disease that was on a downturn but now its increasing
its a threat to pregnant women as it can lead to congenital syphilis and all its sad effects on the fetus
it can show up as brain damage years later in adults affected
its tested for on prenatal labs
in fact its sometimes is tested on patients with dementia or memory loss
is part of the workup for dementia or memory loss in most clinical trials
the symptoms can be vague

sadly
its easily tested for and easily treated with penicillin
sadly
its not tested for or thought of frequently enough

most adults should be tested for syphilis with a blood test sometime just like folks should be tested for hepatitis c sometime in their adult life
note if you have ever donated blood you have been tested for these two

again the treatment for syphilis is simple
penicillin

norovirus

cnn

this one is what i call the cruise ship virus
it spreads through the cruise ship and infects sometimes almost all the passengers since its so contagious
then
the passengers get off loaded somewhere and as they travel back home they spread the virus to gas stations airports bus terminals bathrooms restaurants everywhere to friends and neighbors then to schools work daycare doctors office with no end to its infection of others

there is no vaccine
the only way to stop it is lots of handwashing and staying away from other folks

if you have had this virus you for sure remember it

a variant of this got mr hudson a year ago and put him in the hospital for about 10 days with half of those being in icu
all of this threatened to damage his kidney transplant and still is a threat over a year later

it can be a bad virus for those susceptible folks like mr hudson pregnant folks sick folks older folks any immunosuppressed person

it can come from shellfish contaminated fruits and vegetables and contaminated hands
wash your hands wash your fruits and vegetables and cook your shell fish
a restaurant in north carolina a sushi one infected over 200 folks
thats why i dont eat sushi
also prewashed vegetable should be rewashed to be safe

this one can ruin a week or month of your life or if you are compromised can kill you
note hand sanitizers dont kill this virus you have to wash your hands with soap and water

also add to this list
rsv
flu
covid
all three can be prevented or slowed down by getting immunized for them each year
those who are at risk need to be immunized and those of us around those at risk need to be immunized

sadly
our immunization rates for these three are low

then
i want to add this last thing
lets not forget this
our grandkids are infecting us grandparents on a regular basis
so
make sure your grandkids are properly immunized
or
you will be the one thats gets the sickest
just saying

remember those first two syphilis and measles we shouldnt be seeing in 2024
but
sadly
we are

the organicgreen doctor
