you might get alzheimers disease

heres why

in this study from nature linked here  they explain why picking your nose can potentially lead to alzheimers disease

there is a germ called chlamydia pneumoniae that can cause upper respiratory infections in humans
so it gets in the nose and the upper respiratory system
it can also cause pneumonia
most folks dont need treatment but antibiotics can be used to treat it if it worsens
no its not the std chlamydia

complications although not common are worsening of asthma  myocarditis or inflammation of the heart  encephalitis or inflammation of the brain

this study used a mouse model
what happened was that the chlamydia pneumoniae germ traveled up the olfactory nerve into the brain
the olfactory nerve goes to the olfactory center which is near to the part of the brain where alzheimers disease usually starts
this infection triggers the deposit of beta amyloid protein deposits which is the hallmark of alzheimers disease

amyloid starts the disease process then tau proteins unwind and form tangles causing more brain destruction then inflammation takes place making it all worse

there are drugs like a nasal insulin that in research studies is sprayed in the nose and takes the same path to the brain as the chlamydia pneumonia takes

its a bypass of the blood brain barrier that gets these germs and drugs to the brain

so
dont pick your nose
dont pluck your nose hairs

it will go out one mile then come back on the beach side sidewalk
