i read a lot of articles on alzheimers each week
this topic below is from being patient recently
i recommend you follow being patient if you are in the alzheimers world
while you are on their website google my name and watch my interview with them
their review of an article about pregnancy and dementia is linked here
it may have something to do with estrogen and other female hormones during pregnancy
along with the damage done to blood vessels
preeclampsia in pregnancy involves high blood pressure proteinuria or protein in the urine and edema
if it worsens a person can have seizures and clotting problems
when seizures occur its called eclampsia
preeclampsia usually happens in first pregnancies' in some patients
hypertension in pregnancy involves elevated blood pressure that can be treated commonly with certain high blood pressure medications
gestational diabetes occurs in some pregnancies' and can commonly be controlled with diet
sometimes these patients have to take insulin
they found in women who had preeclampsia that they had an increased risk of developing dementia later in life by 38%
having eclampsia may increase that even more
having gestational diabetes increases the risk of developing dementia later in life by 36%
the dementia is vascular dementia
