i dont want to die from something i can prevent

i dont want to get sick and feel miserable for days if i can prevent it

i am 72
that makes me immunosuppressed

these bugs like flu covid rsv shingles pneumococcus pertussis will either make me real sick or real miserable
they are all preventable by getting a vaxxine
well the rsy vaxxine is not available yet
but
when it becomes available i will get it
 
when you look at the covid graphs the last two years 
the numbers tend to climb in the fall into the winter and peak the highest of the year
this will happen this year
its a winter thing with viruses

in australia where its the winter they just filled their hospitals with flu and or covid cases
thats what will happen here

the new bicovid vaxxines against the wild type or original covid and the omicron variants ba.4 and ba.5 are now approved and are becoming available for us to get them 
they will protect us against the new variants that are prevalent right now
remember there will probably be another new variant that pops up this winter

pfizer is available if you are 12 and over
moderna is available if you are 18 and over

the most vulnerable for these covid infections are the elderly and the immunosuppressed

obesity thats about half of you asthma copd and other lung diseases heart disease patients kidney disease patients diabetics transplant patients and others

thats a lot of folks that will get the sickest if they get covid
thats also true of the flu

the shots can prevent hospitalizations and deaths
right now we are losing about 400 a day from covid
that number will rise this winter

here is what i plan to do

here is my schedule of immunizations
i have had my two covid shots and my two booster shots
my last booster shot was 6 months ago
in late september or early october i will go in for my bicovid shot and will also get my flu shot at the same time
i expect to feel bad for a couple of days

next
later maybe a month later i will get my new updated pneumococcal pneumonia shot
i got the older versions but will get the updated one now
then
later maybe like a month i will start my two shot shingle shot series
i got the old one but this one works better
the shingles probably wont kill me if i get it but it can be a miserable experience if you get it
then
when the rsv shot for adults becomes available i will get that one
i have had the pertussis or whooping shot so im covered for that one

some of these are infections you can get from your grandkids

any of these
if you are in my risk category can kill you
