hospice made a difference in her moms jouney

HOSPICE MADE A DIFFERENCE IN HER MOMS JOURNEY

this is the logo of the local hospice program here in santa barbara
wherever you live there is a hospice program available to you and your loved ones when the time comes

i somewhat was aware of hospice programs when i was in practice since a few of my patients were on hospice programs
once when i was doing meals on wheels deliveries we helped an elderly invalid client get on hospice near the end of his life

my younger brother died from the last stages of alzheimers
i got to see him a month before he died
at that time he was in a long term care facility spending his day in a bed or a geri chair recliner having to receive full care
two weeks after my visit he was placed in the hospice house to allow him and his family to be together for his final two weeks

i learned a lot about hospice by doing q and a sessions at caregiver groups that also included social workers and hospice representatives

one case that stands out was a son who was the caregiver of his mom who was in those late stages of alzheimers
he wasnt aware of the services that hospice provides for patients with alzheimers
he was able to sign her up for hospice services which helped as her condition worsened

my wife she and i have had these discussions on how i want to be handled
i also write it in my blogs for her and others to read my wishes
when my time comes i want to be moved to a long term care facility
id rather be there too early than too late
i want hospice services added to my care
i plan on using the hospice program above

remember you dont have to be about to die to get services

this week kim komando the computer goddess did a podcast with the hospice program that helped care for her mom who died from pancreatic cancer

i rarely sit and listen to a long podcast
but
this one i did

if you or a loved one are a candidate for hospice or will be a candidate for hospice or if you want to know about hospice then i suggest you click on the link below to listen to her podcast

i only choked up twice well three times during the podcast

remember this service is available to all of us

they are there for you and your family
