COVID 19-THE ANCESTRY TREE OF COVID

i read this npr article last week about the family tree of the covid 19 virus
some of the branches and the trunck we all know 
the wild type or the variant
delta
omicron
there were lots of others but they fizzled out or never did dominant 

its these three
the wild type
delta
omicron
that has killed over 900,00 of us in the us
and
has permanently maimed thousands and thousands more of us
how bad the long term effects will not be known for a long time
it will cost society millions of dollars in lost income and health care costs

this week i read an article about how covid can attack a pregnant womens body
especially the placenta such that it absolutely destroys the placenta
causing massive blood clots in the placenta such that it kills the fetus
leading to still births

another article was about the cardiovascular effects of covid even in those with mild infections 
things like strokes heart attacks irregular heart rhythms heart failure
rates of these were increased significantly

the depiction of that ancestry photo in that article is a gnarly looking tree that i think adequately depicts how bad covid has been

so as i look at this tree and read the article and read the articles on the damage it causes its my opinion that the governors and others are opening things up too much too soon

heck im as ready as anyone to open up full throttle
but
we are getting close
we just arent there yet

there are a lot of vulnerable people out there that depends on us to be safe so we wont carry the virus to them
there are a lot of folks who are immunosuppressed whose immunity is starting to fade who are at risk
they all depend on us to be safe

i dont mind wearing a mask if thats what it takes
it seems real whiny for someone  to complain about wearing a mask
its such a benign simple thing to do wear a mask

i do admit we are close
once we can immunize those under 5 then almost all americans are eligible to be vaccinated
that can be vaccinated
some may chose not to 

there will be a high degree of natural immunity out there when this is all over with 
add to that those who are vaxxed
then
if the numbers keep falling down to a low enough number
then
it will be time to open up full throttle

that time is not now
its later probably in 2-3 months

we cant be in a hurry to open up

remember delta
remember omicorn
some new gnarly covid branch may appear on that tree
 then we will be back to where we were last year

be safe
wear your mask
protect your at risk loved ones
dont let up too soon
