folks frequently reach out to me wanting to know what they can do to keep from getting alzheimers disease
many times this is triggered by a diagnosis of alzheimers in a loved one
thats what happened in our family
when our mother and younger brother got diagnosed with it we all started to look at what we were doing healthwise to maybe help slow down the disease
recently someone reached out to me about their family
their spouses mom was recently diagnosed with memory loss and a grandparent had alzheimers now and others in the family had it
my recommendation for the younger family member was to live a healthy life
like
control blood pressure cholesterol diabetes weight
dont smoke
limit alcohol
exercise
get adequate restful sleep
treat anxiety and depression
avoid stress as much as possible
be happy
meditation or some equivalent eg i use my garden for this
stay active mentally and physically
then
eat right
the best diet for the brain is
the mind diet
