covid 19- dear ms b its your turn now

COVID 19-DEAR MS B ITS YOUR TURN NOW

dear ms b
you have been dodging this virus now for about 20 months
you had to leave your prek preschool class when this started months ago
you lost contact with many of your friends
you missed out on your first year of kindergarten having to do zoom kindergarten all year
at least now you have been able to attend live first grade
how excited and how excited still you are to be in live school
you seem excited every day you head off to school

you have missed out on a lot

you have been so careful wearing your mask
never arguing about having to wear it 
you just pop it on and go
wish you could teach some adults how easy that it is to do

you have been able to play with friends some now on a limited basis after school and do other extra school activities

but
you still have to be real careful
we arent there yet
you have at your house a vulnerable person who is not immune to covid
thats mr hudson
he is immunosuppressed from his kidney transplant meds
he is at risk for catching covid
you have helped teach him to be masked and be careful

you have done such a good job protecting him
ive seen you to tell people to put on a mask around him
or
tell people to not get too close to him

now we are on the homestretch 
you will qualify on tuesday to get your first covid shot then 21 days later get your second shot

maybe by thanksgiving you will be fully vaxxed against covid
thus
all those who are around mr hudson will then be double vaxxed and some triple vaxxed

for doing what needed to be done these last 20  months to protect mr hudson
you should look back when you are older and be proud for what you have done

many adults could take lessons from you

eg
who killed colin powell

its likely someone who was in his close circle
someone let their guard down before they got to the finish line
mr powell was a few days away from getting triple vaxxed which might have protected him from catching covid

someone gave it to him

mr hudson is probably 1-2 months away from getting his first covid vaxxine
kidney transplant patients are getting 3 shots and maybe getting 4 shots
pediatric kidney transplant patients it seems are mounting a decent immune response to the vaxxine

there are millions of immunosuppressed folks out there that even though they are double vaxxed are still vulnerable like colin powell was 
obesity asthma lung disease heart disease kidney disease liver disease diabetes pregnancy and other immunosuppressed diseases

we all have vulnerable loved ones 

dont be the one that makes them sick
dont be the one that makes them die

there are 5 million folks who have died from covid
there are even more folks who are permanently maimed by this disease
there have been 750000+ who died with it in the us
we still are loosing around 1500+ a day in the us
in our county of about 450000 about 523 have died with covid

here our vaxxine rate is now 60.1% fully vaxxed 
our vaxxine rate for eligible folks is 78.7%

those numbers should jump once you ms b and your age group gets vaxxinated
making
it much safer for mr hudson and other vulnerable folks

so
we do things like wear our masks and avoid certain situations like indoor events etc not to protect ourselves but to protect those vulnerable folks 

like mr hudson 
like colin powell
like any unvaxxed person

also remember kids are vectors for spreading the disease
even double vaxxed folks can spread it to others

thats what we all should be doing
