ALZHEIMERS NEWS-WE WILL DO A VIRTUAL WALK TO END ALZHEIMERS AGAIN THIS YEAR 

thats me talking at the opening ceremony here in santa barbara at the walk to end alzheimers 
for the last several years i have spoken in the opening ceremony about why i walk
here in santa barbara they usually have me hold the blue flower
it represents someone who has been diagnosed with the disease
yes
i cried and many in the audience cried
this year i was looking forward to talking since i could talk about some hope 
since i am taking the drug aduhelm that may help slow down the disease

yes i really want to carry the white flower which represents the first person who is cured of this disease

but
alas 
speaking at the opening ceremonies wont be happening this year

last year because of the pandemic the local walk was changed to a virtual walk
so
my wife she and i walked from our condo up to the mission of santa barbara where the promise garden with its spinning flowers was set up 
we wore our purple shirts 
we visited with a few folks there
at that time we were unvaxxed
we were distant from everyone and were were masked

this year this walk here will be live
however
they are not requiring masks and are not requiring vaxxination
they are recommending it 
not requiring it
yes it is outside

my wife she and i will be triple vaxxed by the time of the walk and we would wear our kn95 masks
our chances of catching covid is close to zero
however
i have seen photos of walks that have already happened
i saw few masks
i saw folks close together

the vaxx rate in this town is high probably in the 60s with some zip codes in the 70s
but its not high enough
the further north you go in the county the lower the number gets
it starts to get close to the rates in the worst counties in the deep south or other states where the covid is worse

plus
so many of the folks that will be there are older some in the their 80s
if they are not triple vaxxed they could be vulnerable 

sorry
we could be where we need to be with this pandemic in about 5-6 months
but
we arent there yet

so 
we will walk by ourselves with our purple on probably up to the mission of santa barbara again
honoring those in our family that were affected by this disease
