THE DIRTY DOZEN OF PRODUCE
peaches are on the list at number 8
now these peaches in this picture are not on the list
these i grew at the country n a few years ago
they were totally organically grown
they were safe to eat
it seems that tomatoes or strawberries or apples always top the dirty dozen list
as the most contaminated veggies or produce you can buy
on this years 2021 dirty dozen list
strawberries came in at number one
90% of them has at least one pesticide residue on them
30% of them had 10 or more different pesticides on them
think about this as you give your small rapidly growing child a strawberry
what can this do to them those pesticides
you cant wash most of the pesticides off either
or
maybe worse if you are pregnant
how can you give your child a safe strawberry that wont harm them
given them an organic strawberry
or
grow your own
eg
when mr hudson or ms b goes to our garden we have strawberries that they love to pick and eat
so we let them pick them
wash them off well
then
they safely munch them
we recently were given a bag of weed and feed
its banned in canada and europe and should be banned here but its not
when we got ready to dispose of it since we cant use it
we couldnt just put it in the trash
we had to take it to a special disposal site for poisons
there are organic alternatives to weed and feed
here is a good article on it from the dirt doctor
folks put things like this on their yards and veggies and produce
its scary to think what damage it does to growing kids
frogs who get exposed to it can get 3 eyes and or 5 legs
here are photos and a brief article on the dirty dozen list
and
the ewg website with the ewgs 2021 dirty dozen shoppers guide to pesticides in produce list
here is the 2021 dirty dozen list
1 strawberries
2 spinach
3 kale
4 nectarines
5 apples
6 grapes
7 cherries
8 peaches
9 peppers
10 celery
11 tomatoes
in my garden or in the community garden i grow strawberries spinach kale peppers celery and tomatoes
so
when i harvest them i know they are safe to eat
our frogs have two eyes and 4 legs that live in our garden
it is safe to garden there and we dont have to worry about kids or pregnant women getting poisoned when they come into our garden and eat our produce
our produce is donated to soup kitchens womens shelters homeless sites food pantries etc
so we are not poisoning these groups of people in need of good healthy food
think about this when you reach to grab produce and you are going to feed it to your kids
is it safe
for
them to eat
or
you can just grow your own organic produce
then
you know for sure its safe
