A DEMO ON WHY WE SHOULD BE WEARING A MASK
most americans agree that we should be wearing a mask when we are out in public or in high risk situations
those who dont agree well what can i say
my rule
if i go out my condo door i wear a mask
if i answer a knock on the door i put on my n95 mask
if i go to a high risk place i wear my n95 mask
high risk would be the grocery store or pharmacy
if i work in my garden i wear my cloth mask yes even if im by myself
remember you are also protecting others in case you are infected and dont know it
if i go for a walk i wear my cloth mask
when the plumber came over i stayed 20 ft away and wore my n95 mask
i might add i also emptied out all the things on our counters even the toilet paper all the towels out of the bathroom
when he left i sprayed it down with disinfectant and let it sit for a length of time
remember its the person who doesnt look sick that will probably give it to you
so
presume each person you interact with could have the covid 19
protect yourself
also presume you may have it and dont know and protect others from you
yes wear a mask
it seems more and more folks are wearing a mask
i even noticed the president wore one in public the other day
if we all had been wearing a mask in public since march we wouldnt be in this mess we are in now
it seems like all these states are going to end up like new york did earlier this spring
wearing a mask by all of us may have prevented this disaster or at least slowed it down
so
i read with interest an interesting article about bill nye the science guy who did a tiktok video on wearing a mask
he lit a candle
put on a n95 mask then tried to blow out the candle
it wouldnt blow out
he put on a surgical mask the tried to blow out the candle
it wouldnt blow out
he put on a knit bandanna then tried to blow out the candle
which isnt in the video and the flame blew out
he took off the mask then tried to blow out the candle
it blew out
here is the link to the article
further down the article is the link to the tiktok video
so
i decided to do my own experiment
i decided to use a small feather in my hand since i was afraid i would set off my smoke alarm if i lit a candle in the room
here are the 4 masks i tested
a n95 mask with the valve occluded
a kn95 mask which is really a n95 mask
a double lined cloth mask someone made for me
a blue bandanna
no mask at all
here are the results as i blew real hard to blow the feather
the feather which is easily sensitive to air movement did not even move when i wore the n95 mask the kn95 mask and the cloth mask
the feather floated off my hand when i wore the bandanna
the feather flew way off my hand and floated up and out into the room when i didnt wear a mask
it gradually floated to the floor
just like the covid 19 virus does when you cough or yell or talk without a mask
for others to breathe it into their lungs
so
wear the damn mask folks
save someones life maybe your own life
help save the country from disaster
