each year in santa barbara at the santa barbara mission they have an italian sidewalk chalk street painting festival out front of the mission on the mission plaza
here is the link to the event for 2021
local businesses sponsor the drawings that can take several days to draw
it attracts thousands of folks to the 3 day event
when you walk around looking at the artwork you can hear people talking in lots of different languages as they view the paintings since people come from everywhere to see it
at the beginning you can watch many of the artists as they are drawing their paintings
each year for us one always stands out
we usually walk up the day before it starts to see the artists doing their paintings and talk with them
then
we will go back again the day after the festival when its not crowded to take our time looking at the paintings
sometimes its hard to pick one out as the best
this year sadly the event was canceled as discussed here in a news article because of the covid 19 pandemic
instead some of the artists are drawing their paintings on the sidewalks in town
many will post them online
then a winner will be picked
now
we have only seen one of these as its a few blocks from our condo
but
there is a good chance that this one might have been one of the best paintings this year
they might just win the online contest this year
the above picture now this is my interpretation is a coronavirus going down a funnel
hopefully
to be gone forever
ive walked by this several times just to watch it change as i circled it
it does make you think doesnt it
