as we were walking by this woke coffee place near us this guy sitting at the outside table
he was a young millennial looking fellow all woke looking
looked at me and said
well i thought he said
you old

i thought
yes im older but i dont feel old
im pretty active
i got a lot left in me
im able to work with college students keeping up with them doing manual garden work such as hauling wheelbarrows of mulch up a steep incline
lifting bags of heavy soil and mulch
working in the garden when its hot
sometimes it seems i can out work them

so
when he said
you old
i thought
no im not

later
as i was reading my news feeds i saw this article about
yold
the new word used to describe my generation over the next decade
heck
i thought it was the baby boomers
now
its
yold
ie
the young old

its the decade of the young old
starting with 2020

the height of fertility after ww2 was 1955-1960 in the wealthiest countries
now 65 years later
we get the yold decade
apparently thats what the japanese call it

all those folks are retiring the middle of the baby boomers
but some of them they arent retiring they are staying busy like we are
some are raising their grandkids
many are the base for many charities providing volunteers

we are older
many are still working
many travel and live a life yall younger ones only wish you could do
they are changing the world
look at the top presidential candidates for 2020
trump biden bernie warren bloomberg
this yold group arent retiring
many like my wife she and i are retired but we arent slowing down any
