water we gotta have

WATER WE GOTTA HAVE

this is where i collected rainwater for our water system at the country n where we had a complete rainwater only system for our personal use and for our landscape and gardening and for our animals
i wasnt limited by how much i could pull out of the earth or if i could get it from a water system that depended on a lake or some water system that depended on desalinization of sea water

we were limited though by how much rain we got
we did manage to survive the worst drought in texas in a hundred years

at our community garden i put in two 50 gallon tanks at this spot that collects water off our chicken coop
we use city water to supplement any rain we get here so the water has stuff in it
you can smell something like chlorine in it and you can taste it
it also leaves a white residue in your pipes and your connections on your dishes
im sure we all have calcium deposits in our stomachs

so
i use the water from these two tanks to water in new plantings and i hand water with this rainwater as much as i can
plants love rainwater
its a neutral ph our city water is alkaline
they grow better with rainwater

i also fixed it so that the overflow if those tanks fill up goes right into my garden

so that gives me hundreds of gallons of water into my garden that is pure rainwater
without those tanks i would be using city water all the time

this morning i read an article about the prediction of the seawater level at the end of the century here in santa barbara
there is a desalination plant near the oceans edge here that produces a percentage of our drinking water
guess what
in the end of the century that plant will be under the sea

then
remember we have to have water to live
like the air
like food

i read where georgia controls a lot of the water that flows down into florida
guess who has a lot of straws in that water
you got it
its georgia
guess whos ticked off
florida

a see a big battle brewing there

remember you have to have water to live

then you look out west
see the colorado river

there are lots and lots of straws in that body of water
i bet it eventually slows to a trickle farther down the line
in fact the last 70 miles before it reaches the ocean is bone dry
ie
it doesnt reach the ocean anymore

water we gotta have it
save it like we are doing at the garden
limit your overuse
be ready for battles over water

each day we my wife she and i try to limit our water use and conserve water

we all need to do that also
we have to breathe drink water and eat to survive
