ALZHEIMERS NEWS-BE BOLD
this disease may break the healthcare piggyback if something isnt done
something bold needs to be done
so
a first step was taken recently in congress called the bold act which stands for
building our largest dementia infrastructure for alzheimers act
it passed the senate by a voice vote
it passed the house by a vote of 361-3
why would you vote against this huh
the president signed it in december 2018
it was a bipartisan bill
demonstrating that congress can sometimes work for the good of the country
this bill gives 100 million dollars to be used over 5 years to build up the infrastructure for alzheimers
remember now that alzheimers will break our budget if we dont do something
we cant afford not to do something about this disease
it will consume medicare and medicaid if we dont do something
100 million is a drop in the bucket of what this disease is about to cost us
congress also recently increased funding for research before the bold act was passed
which should help us find treatment for this disease
for those of us who have done this alzheimers journey or are just now starting it
you know theres a lot missing in our medical and social support systems for this disease
this new act will direct the cdc to get educational and technical assistance and funding
and good accurate data analysis to the public health systems and healthcare providers and others
ie
provide a good infrastructure to prevent to educate to support to treat and to care for those who are affected by this disease
that will be all of us
here is an article on more details at this link
the alzheimers impact website
yes
we have more money but need more for alzheimers research
we now have money for a good infrastructure for alzheimers
we now need a treatment or cure for this disease
thats coming in the future
