REST IN PEACE
thats what i said out loud to myself
this morning
when i read the posting on her blog
missing jim confessions of an alzheimers wife
here is the posting
JAMES BRADLEY GARNER
April 7, 1962 – April 2, 2016
missing jim
now on last friday
i wrote a blog about his story
how it bothered me following his course
that downward course
into the alzheimers abyss
with
its emotional and financial debris that is left in
its path
the suffering is now over for
jim
stricken in his late 40s
while in his prime
working
coaching
being a husband
having retired from the military a few years ago
physically very active
a loving caring person
i can remember the employees where my younger brother
stayed before he died
they would say
early on
he looks so young
he looks so healthy
so it was with jim
then
as the disease makes its road trip around the brain
destroying bits and pieces
so the parts cant communicate together
you get left with
what jim was like last week
a sad picture to see
now
he is at peace
she is at peace but is forever scarred
it will take months to years for her to recover
physically mentally financial
never fully recovering though
his kids wont have their dad at their games
at their graduations
at their marriages
at their birth of his grandkids
gone forever
but
at least they have his memories and know he loved them much
i wish to personally thank karen garner for writing her story
and his story with this awful journey
i know it was painful for me to read it
im sure it was even more painful for her to write
despite being in the midst of this awful abyss
