country n news-nature knows best

COUNTRY N NEWS-NATURE KNOWS BEST

nature always knows best
and
she always wins

what ive done generally here at the country n is
give in to what she wants

this is a peach tree that blooms early every year
however
if its a cold winter or if we have just one bad freezing night
no peaches will appear on that tree that year

now if i had been that one who planted this i would have planted the
correct peach for this location
it would not be this one
even though when this tree does produce
since they taste so good
i always say
its worth it

heck last year i wrapped it tightly with row cover
put a heat light in the middle of the tree
to keep it from freezing
it worked
we had a fantastic crop
but
i said to myself
no im going to let nature do its thing
sink or swim this year ms peach tree

now i did plant a new peach tree a few years ago
just a few feet away
knowing that this old peach trees days are numbered
this new tree has the right amount of freeze hours
for our location
overall it will produce more peaches on a regular basis

when we first moved in our front yard inside our stone
low fence was all st augustine
i got rid of it
and
have planted native plants-lavender sage salvia greggi three nerve daisy
burr oak germander trumpet vine native grape turks cap
shrimp plant anacaho orchid tree texas moutain laurel texas persimmon
texas plum pidgeonberry agarita native grasses
just to name a few
now thats just in that front area
there are over 100 native plants ive planted over the years
on my property

nature knows best

what shows is that we have noticed this return of lots of different
birds to our area and lizards and toad frogs and bull frogs
that werent there when we moved here

now since i have bees i have been more sensitive to what the bees like

like this rosemary
any nice winter day the bees actually cover this plant

these weeds i dont know what they are called
i use to mow them down
im sure folks in town use some poison on them
that kills the plants harms the bees
and their dogs and kids
when i walk out their on a nice winter sunny day
it sounds like a bee concert all over this part of our property
nature knows best

these beautiful red leaved trees in the fall called flame sumac
well i use to keep them out of the pasture by cutting them down
now
i let them grow and take over
why
just look at the end of this 30 sec video
youll see and hear those bees going crazy

then see those trees all those live oaks above that red leaved tree above
thats a grove of live oaks

now when we moved in here that area looked like this

now it looks like this

when the season is right the live oaks secret a sugary liquid
that the bees just love
again it sounds like a bee convention when we walk by our entry gate

so yes
ive learned over the last 15 years
to leave mother nature alone as much as possible
since
she knows best

the birds deer turkeys roadrunner lizards frogs heck even the snakes
are happy
but
the bees i think are the most happy of all of them

stay natural
