i get up each morning real early
if you have ever gotten an email or text from
me
then you know what time that is
lets just say the roosters arent crowing yet
the time i wake up and get up is the result
of the side effects of the aricept (donepezil)
i take for my possible alzheimers disease
i wake up
bam im awake like emeril does when he cooks
never to go back to sleep that morning
i realized this morning that i spend about 8 hours
in my living room
where i sit first thing in the morning
reading my emails
and
reading news
and
reading articles on alzheimers
and
writing this blog
then in the evening we like to watch the news
we like to watch pbs since its more balanced
and
they dont scream and go off the deep end
on issues
then we watch usually our dvred shows
i hate commercials so i just zip right through
them
so here i sit in this room
several hours of the day
so i like to keep it comfortable
artisan years ago
if you look closely at the wall above the fireplace
you can see a long haired person smoking a pipe
on an engraving
just above the picture
we say its willie nelson since the previous owners
and friends traveled around with willie in the 70s
so in the winter when its cold like it is now
we keep our wood burning stove going 24/7
now the wood i purchase from a guy we call
hippy steve
he delivers the wood and plays his 60s-70s music
real loud as he stacks it in our garage
he does a perfect job of stacking all that firewood
he use to have long grey hair pulled back in a
ponytail
so we called him hippie steve
he cut his hair last year so we now call him firewood steve
this year he delivered us the mostest perfect wood ever
cured just right
all the pieces were cut equal
when we got the fire going in the stove
it just seemed to burn better and warmer than in
years past
you get blurry eyed from the warmth
like the fire in this picture
maybe the haircut change made him do a better job
of wood selection and wood splitting
so we try to keep that living room real toasty
oven like
once that limestone warms up on all four walls
we feel like we are in a cocoon
then
the heat flows up the stairway
into our upstairs bedroom
which keeps itself at a sleepable mid 60s
there is no better feeling in the cold winter
when a fire is going
and
that wood generating heat just seems to permeate your
pores
making you feel so toasty inside
then
we also have to sit on our couch
facing our large south facing picture window
and
watch the sun arising as the morning dawns on us
there is no way a central heating system can duplicate this
so
i we feel like the work we put into starting the stove
and
keeping the fire going
is worth it
to feel this toasty feeling we get to experience every day
during the winter
toasty is the best description i can think of
the organicgreen doctor
REAL early. REAL toasty. REAL lucky!
