when we decided to live at the country n
we knew there would be issues living this far
out from civilization
like
10+ miles to the nearest gas station
25 miles to the nearest grocery store
no municipal water source
well i solved that one with my rainwater collection system
no cable connection
we solved that one by signing up with dish satellite
unless it storms of course
no cable internet service
our choices were dial up satellite service or cell phone service
we choice the verizon version since its the fastest of the three
choices
then
theres cell phone service itself
a real problem it was


i could see the tower just peaking around the trees to the east
then there were several scattered from east to west on the
hills above our property
however it was the one peaking around that tree that was ours
dont ask me how i know thats another blog

then it got to where the service became real spotty at times
just dont  go into the kitchen or upstairs or your bars will
go from 3 to 1 or even zero


so we heard about wilson electronics
got us a box antenna put it on our upper deck
ran a line inside to an antenna that sits high in our
high roof living room 10 ft on top our bookcase it is

now it worked fine kept at least 2-3 bars no matter where we
went inside the house

then recently i noticed that on my iphone4 i was only getting one
bar or no bars

heck i even had took it out of its protective case recently
cleaned out all the compost mulch garden soil
and yes a bean plant was even sprouting in there

i was ready to get me a new phone even though
what we do since im cheap
our sons who have to have the new gadgets when they update
send us their old iphones for us to use
they do what we need them to do
no extra gadgets bells or whistles were needed
frustrated i was though

so i opened my new consumer reports which looked at a lot
of gadgets with its recommendation of what to buy
like computers digital cameras coffee pots tvs etc
there was a section on cell phones
then there was this section
titled

we still cant recommend the iphone 4

%&*^#$ i said out loud
it said we found there can be reception problems when you touch
a spot on the phones lower left side while you are in an area
with a weak signal
well thats definitely the country n locale

well we always have a weak signal but its boosted to a three
i looked down at the phone in my hand
my thumb and palm was resting all along the left side
i slowly lifted my thumb off it
careful to hold it only on the top and bottom

like a tachometer
that little spot on the upper right top got bigger
then suddenly there were two spots or bars
then there was three spots or bars
and an occasionally flickering four bars
