ANNUAL
today is the anniversary
of my parents who are now deceased
it is also the fourth anniversary of my writing this blog
ive told the story before
i was out working at the country n
came in all sweaty sat down with a glass of water
my wife she said you could do this
so i watched the show she recorded
an interview on pbs about a lady who blogged about a down
time in her life and about the struggles she had recovering from it
the blog is a popular one such that she and her husband make
their living at it
a good one
she said she has made a few people upset at her and she seems
to be too honest they say about her family and friends
im sure my wife she thinks that sometimes
but she takes it all in stride
the one that gives me the hardest time is my wet suitcase sisterinlaw
she still wont let me live down messing up her clothes that time
so i watched the video
i said i can do that
i went on google and within an hour i had written this first blog
yes i liked ee cummings so i dont like to use caps or punctuation
and sometimes i purposely use the wrong word like their there theyre
does it really matter if i dont
i consider this blog a success not because it has a vast number of
readers
but because i have reached a lot of people from everywhere
that would not have occurred without this blog
well the video the newspaper article the newsletter that are at
the top of this blog helped a lot since the blog got some
national attention via the ap and youtube etc
i have written well over 1000 blogs entries so far
i also have used this blog to champion the cause of the
alzheimers association and the cause of letting people know
whats going in the alzheimers world
facebook and twitter also helps and probably supplies half of the
readers of the blog
i have also chronicled my journey with possible alzheimers as things
pop up
its slow the symptoms but i know that it will probably pick up
as time goes along
i plan to write about it as long as i can to maybe show folks what
someone with the disease is feeling and thinking and how they
and their family are affected
if you follow this blog the story want get better im afraid
thats the real purpose now is my journey and getting folks educated
and involved in eradicating alzheimers disease
of course along the way i have fun with
volunteering
gardening
encouraging and educating folks on gardening
pushing green living like with recycling solar rainwater collection water
conservation organic practices in our gardens homes and yards
i feel like i have been successful doing that
pushing social issues we no matter what our beliefs and politics
should be better at being involved with like healthcare womens issues
mean politics poor etc
all these things that will make our place a better place to live
this blog has had over 500,000 page views
most from the united states and from most states and from most countries
of the world
my most popular blogs have been about when i left my practice when
i had to retire
one of my favorite blogs was about a former patient named abbie
born without a lower left arm but has not let it slow her down or
intefere with what she does
she is always the best in what she does and that includes competitive
cheerleading school sports like volleyball basketball track
yes she is always on the a team
and of course she is a top student
so i feel like this blog has been a success
at least for me
and
its a form of treatment for the progression of this disease by
keeping my brain cells active every day doing the research
and writing thats needed to do this
thanks to my wife she for being a good sport and a good wife
through all this
the organicgreen doctor
welcome to the organic green doctor blog
i am a family physician who was diagnosed with
early mild cognitive impairment(mci) amnestic type on december 21, 2010
this is a precursor to alzheimers disease
because of this diagnosis i have opted to stop practicing medicine
this blog will be about my journey with this disease
please feel free to follow me along this path
i will continue blogging on organic gardening, green living,
solar power, rainwater collection, and healthy living
i will blog on these plus other things noted to be interesting
