THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM
when i was eighteen i took a bite out of a steering wheel in
a car wreck
yes i was driving
i lost one of my front teeth and chipped off 1/2 of the other one
i got a replacement for the lost one
the chipped one was repaired
that is when all the swelling and stitches were removed
felt like a 5 yr old i did
i was good at spitting for awhile there
too bad i didnt chew tobacco at the time
i could have won a spitting contest
or
i could have be a poster boy for a redneck arkansas hillbilly
almost deliverance like
little did i know that this would start me on my road
downward into the root canal abyss
yes i had my first root canal when i was in college in my early 20s
my first encounter with dental pain
that throbbing pulse like pain that wont go away
thats definitely is worse at 2 am
laying awake feeling my booming throbbing discomfort in my jaw
thinking
but not ever acting on my thoughts
of taking wire pliers
grasping that tooth
and removing it tooth root and all
guess if i drank enough whiskey when that happened
i probably would have done that
you know like the dentist in the old cowboy movies use to do
yes i duplicated those painful nights many times over the years
in fact i think i have had 31 of these over the years
i would have had 32 but i lost that one front tooth somewhere
along the side of the road in southern arkansas
now i had all my molars removed a few years ago
i learned not to do that when your hair gets grey
it ranked somewhere way above any root canal discomfort
now i dont think i had 31 root canals it just seems that way
but ive had a lot
enough that im sure i have bought at least 2 mercedes
for my dentist over the years
the endodontist who has done several on me over the years
knows me by my first name
smiles
gets to work
hes good efficient and kind thank goodness
the part i dont like is when they get you good and numb
dont worry i wont let them start grinding on me
unless i am 110% numbed up
unless of course they tie down my hands
the part i hate is when they take those wire things
hold them up where i can see them as they look to
see if they went far enough
makes me a little squeamish when they do that
in fact i feel nauseated as i write this
i ran across this article the other day that made me excited
although i dont have many more teeth that will need
those rrrrrrroot canals
it seems they can use lasers to stimulate the formatin of dentin
thats the natural cement stuff we make in our teeth
apparrently it stimulates stem cells in the tooth
the dentin stimulated fills up the holes where the tooth is damaged
the blood vessels remain intact with this method
with a root canal they are destroyed
no wire stuff needed
then a cap is placed over the tooth for protection
of course of course these things have been done on rats
with human tests being planned
hopefully this is not another too good to be true rat research study
like
we see done in alzheimers disease research
why not skip the rats at least on alzheimers research
and
go right to the human studies
since
what do we have to lose
right
