GARDEN STARTER
every morning when i first get up i go straight to the
coffee pot
i use this oganically grown nicaraguan coffee that i
grind at the grocery store
i make it strong
just ask people who come to visit
i get that first cup that comes through the dripper
since its the strongest
thats why i have been able to grow my beard all
these years
wish it would grow on my chest but it wont
ill take the face instead
i guess nowadays its good i dont have a lot of chest
hair since they just shave it all off now
i dont have to worry about that
im boosted real good until lunch time when it tends
to wear off
that caffeine rush plus my aricept (donepezil) i take
for my possible alzheimers disease
really make me alert and very active in the morning
i can get stuff done in the morning
but in the afternoon and evening it all comes down
but
ill accept things as they are
as least for 6 hours im real productive
i just rest the rest of the time
all my coffee grounds go into our compost bucket
which along with any scraps from our kitchen go
into our compost pile
remember mine is 4 ft x 20 ft long inside my
country n chicken run
those girls go after those scraps like sharks after
blood in the water
instead of water splashing its all my compost splashing
along with my coffee grounds
if they would only eat those coffee grounds maybe they
would be more active egg producers huh
i read this morning in the texas gardener seeds newsletter
that a new program in austin diverts 16 tons of coffee grounds
from the landfill to area gardens each month
our soils around here are alkaline and the garden soil is
boosted by this acidity and by the nutrition in the coffee grounds
maybe we should be eating the coffee grounds ourselves huh
coffee houses convenience stores restaurants and other
businesses provide 4 gallon containers of the grounds
for those who want it
we all know at least i do that starbucks has always
bagged up their grounds for people to take
first come first served
i just wish that i had access to these places but
since i would have to drive so far ill
just have to stick to my
country n compost method
why dont you start your own compost pile today
if not at least sprinkle your grounds in your yard
your garden or your flower beds
lets stay green

Green is good. Unfortunately I stick to 'out of the jar' coffee so grounds will never nurture the soil in my garden.
ReplyDeletePerhaps I nurture myself when devouring a coffee been 'roasted' in sambuca on the odd occasion I dine out!
Do so hope the puddles are subsiding (in Austin).

Hope tossing the unbleached filters in, too, is OK. Been doing it here. LR Susan
ReplyDeleteyes i throw my filters and coffee grounds together in my compost pile

my grandmother always put her coffee grounds out in her garden. Now I understand why :)
